as Safety Net for Needy
When
47-year-old disabled veteran Edward Williams recently came to the
New Community Family Resource Center seeking help, he was not alone.
With him were his 19-year old niece, who is unemployed and expecting
a baby in June, and a 23-year-old unemployed family friend whom he
has also taken into his home

Of Perseverance To Harmony House
Kaity
Rodriguez, Miss New Jersey USA 2009, urged youngsters at New Community Harmony
House to stay positive, persevere and prepare themselves for success, even when
facing life’s tough challenges. “Perseverance
is when you keep on going, despite what you have been through,” she
told the young residents who reside in the 102-family transitional
housing facility designed for homeless families seeking to one day move
into a permanent residence
Pedestrian Program Wins Outreach Award
The
Pedestrian Injury Prevention Partnership (PIPP) at the New Jersey Trauma Center
at UMDNJ-University Hospital received the Health Research and Educational Trust
(HRET) of New Jersey 2009 Community Outreach Award. The Trust is a non-profit
affiliate of NJHA and presents the annual award to recognize hospital-initiated
programs that demonstrate commitment to identifying and meeting community needs
through collaboration and creative response.
